Biography
Kavad I had a turbulent reign marked by his support for the Mazdakite religious and social movement, which advocated for redistribution of wealth. He was briefly deposed by the nobility and clergy but regained his throne with Hephthalite support. His later years were spent in warfare with Byzantium.
