Biography
Bahram V, called Gur (Wild Ass) for his hunting prowess, is one of the most celebrated figures in Persian literature. Raised at the Lakhmid court in Arabia, he won the throne through a trial involving lions. His romantic adventures and hunting exploits are immortalized in Ferdowsi's Shahnameh and Nizami's Haft Peykar.
