Biography
Shapur II had the longest reign in Sasanian history - 70 years. According to legend, he was crowned while still in his mother's womb after his father's death. He conducted successful campaigns against the Romans, Arabs, and Kushans, and recovered all territories lost during his minority. His persecution of Christians was in response to Constantine's adoption of Christianity.
