Biography

Bahram I, influenced by the powerful Zoroastrian priest Kartir, reversed the religious tolerance of his predecessors. He executed Mani, the founder of Manichaeism, and began persecution of religious minorities. His reign marked the beginning of Zoroastrian orthodoxy as state policy.
