Nisibis-based rival king
Biography
Hormizd VI was a grandson of Khosrow II who was proclaimed king by troops in Nisibis, in the years of civil war after Khosrow's death. He held that base for about two years until the same troops turned against him, and Yazdegerd III then emerged as the sole ruler. His drachms are dated to years 1 to 3 and show a fairly young man in a crown modelled on that of Khosrow II. Numbering differs between sources, and he is called Hormizd V in the Encyclopaedia Iranica.
