Vistahm

Vistahm was a noble of the Parthian House of Ispahbudhan and a maternal uncle of Khosrow II, whom he and his brother Vinduyih had helped to the throne and then to victory over Bahram Chobin. After Khosrow had Vinduyih executed, Vistahm rebelled, claimed the kingship, married Bahram's sister Gordiya, and held a large part of northern and eastern Iran for several years. He was killed by treachery in a campaign against the royal army, and accounts differ on whether the killer was an ally or Gordiya. Dating differs: catalogues of his coins give about 591/2 to 597, some sources end his revolt in 596, and another chronology places it about 594/5 to 600.
